We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it is also one more reason you have to drag yourself out of bed before dawn when you have guests in town, am I right?

In the morning you can try something like this

Millet with fresh and dried fruit

Name is interesting right? It is also interesting when you will try it. This is delicious millet breakfast is a great way to start the day and carry you through the morning. Do you love porridge? Then you will defiantly love this variation with millet. Creamy or crunchy, it’s up to you! You can add dried fruit, nuts and seeds and top off with some maple syrup. You can say this is the great alternative to oats for a hot breakfast.

First of all

  • Cut dried fruit into quarters and simmer in the small saucepan with orange juice, lemon juice, lemon zest and honey about 5 minutes.
  • Use a slotted spoon to lift fruit from liquid and place in a small bowl. Continue to cook the sauce, reducing it to about half in volume. Return fruit to sauce. Meanwhile you can Dice 1 apple and 1 banana
  • You can Put the apple in a pan, add a tablespoon of water and a tablespoon of butter, cook for 1–2 minutes to soften
  • While sauce is simmering, bring the 2 cups water to a boil over high heat in a medium saucepan or soup pan.
  • Throw millet and banana into the same pan, add dried cranberries, raisins and nuts/seeds of your choice (walnuts or almonds work great here)
  • Mix with a spoon until warm. Now you can Transfer to plates, sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder. You can also add a teaspoon of honey to each plate.


To reduce preparation time, you can use rolled oats or millet flakes (I just soak those in hot water for a few minutes instead of cooking – depends on how soft you like your oats).
To reduce preparation time even more, You can add diced apple and butter straight to the grains, without softening them before and just mix all the ingredients in a pan to quickly warm them up (make sure the butter has melted).

If you have time to prepare something beforehand so that you can just heat it up in the morning, I will go for the breakfast I ate this morning which was crepes. It can make of rice flour or buckwheat flour.

Filling made of diced and lightly sauteed onions and garlic, grated zucchini, diced sundried tomatoes and goat cheese (or cashew cream if you don’t eat cheese; add a little bit of lemon juice, salt, and nutmeg in the cheeseless version).

Just make the crepes, mix all the ingredients for the filling and season to taste. Allow the crepes to cool, then cover them and put in the fridge. Keep separate from the filling until the morning of serving. I think they should stay tasty for about 2–3 days.

When ready to make the breakfast, put the filling inside the crepes and heat them up in a dry frying pan (be careful with the heat, I use medium or medium-high; I cover the pan to make sure they will be thoroughly heated, and flip them during cooking to warm both sides). You can try heating them in an oven, but microwaving definitely won’t work.


You can try this type of breakfast with yourself at your home. This not only easy to make but it is also healthy to take it on regular basis. So this is the breakfast that you can say that it is the easiest to make but would appear the most impressive to a guest.
